FROM FAMILY ENTERPRISE TO NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE
FAGERDALA WORLD FOAMS ACQUIRES DAN-FOAM
In 1989, the Swedish multinational foam producer Fagerdala World Foams acquired Dan-Foam, a small polyurethane manufacturing company serving the Danish furniture market.
A family enterprise
Fagerdala was founded in 1964 at Värmdö, Sweden, as a foam fabricating company, by father and son Alf and Dag Landvik. In 1973, also Mikael Magnusson became a partner. The first premises were in a former farm house. By 1989, the group had expanded to 10 factories around the world specializing in the development, manufacture and sale of technical foams.
THE TEMPUR PROJECT - DAN-FOAM
Dan-Foam
During the 1980's, Dan-Foam had been striving to develop a large-scale manufacturing process for the TEMPUR Material, originally invented by NASA. Through the acquisition of Dan-Foam, Fagerdala entered the challenge to finalise the TEMPUR Project, and eventually be able to include this highly innovative foam material in its product range.

TEMPUR WORLD, INC. FOUNDED IN 1999
The Tempur World merger
In 1999, in preparation of a TEMPUR Stock exchange introduction, anticipated for year 2003, the shareholders of Dan-Foam ApS and Tempur-Pedic, Inc., USA, merged their participations to form Tempur World, Inc., a Delaware, USA, holding company.

The Tempur World, Inc. world-wide headquarters are located in Lexington, Kentucky.
TEMPUR WORLD FACTORY IN DUFFIELD VIRGINIA, USA
The 2nd TEMPUR World factory
In August 2000, construction began on the 2nd TEMPUR World Factory, located at Duffield, Virginia, USA. With an annual growth rate of 40 percent, the increase in volumes to be produced and handled requires a carefully planned investment program.
30,000 m2 factory area
In May 2001, the 30,000 m2 Duffield factory started production. The U.S. factory enables a substantially quicker service, fulfilling the rapidly growing demands from the North American market.
A NEW CHAPTER IN THE HISTORY OF TEMPUR WORLD, INC. - 2002
Two American equity firms are teaming up to acquire Tempur World Inc.
The two private equity firms TA Associates and Friedmann, Fleischer & Lowe purchase the vast majority of the interests in Tempur World, Inc. The take over is of mutual interest and it offers new perspectives to the development of Tempur World, Inc.
A partnership for the future

The partnership with TA Associates and Friedmann, Fleischer & Lowe was the perfect solution to bring Tempur World, Inc. to the U.S. stock exchange in 2003-2004 and into the next phase of growth.
TEMPUR-PEDIC INTERNATIONAL AT THE NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE - 2003
Tempur-Pedic International Inc. announced December 18th 2003 in Lexington, KY., that the initial public offering of 18,750,000 shares of its common stock was priced at $14.00 per share, for a total offering of $262,500,000. Of the 18,750,000 shares being offered, the company is selling 6,250,000 shares and 12,500,000 shares are being sold by certain of the company's stockholders. Tempur-Pedic expected the shares to begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "TPX".

THE 3RD TEMPUR WORLD FACTORY - ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO
- The Albuquerque plant is 800,000 sq. ft. and is considered the world’s largest mattress plant.
- The Albuquerque plant was completed in 2006 and launched into production in January 2007
- The Albuquerque plant was built large enough to accommodate future expansion of 33% with minimal capital requirements.
